Volvo Penta\u2019s new D3 has been\u00a0developed using the latest available\u00a0engine technology. It only\u00a0has the name and number of\u00a0cylinders in common with the first\u00a0generation D3.<\/p>\n

World-class performance<\/strong><\/p>\n The 1800 bar common rail fuel injection\u00a0system with piezo-electric injectors performing\u00a0multiple injections per cycle gives\u00a0an extraordinary performance. In combination\u00a0with a Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) this ensures outstanding\u00a0acceleration, with no sign of smoke.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Robust, compact and lightweight<\/strong><\/p>\n With cast-in grey iron cylinder liners, integrated\u00a0freshwater pump, and a neatly\u00a0designed marinization based on Volvo\u00a0Penta\u2019s unique experience, the new D3 is\u00a0a very robust engine. It is ultra-compact\u00a0for its swept volume and fully symmetrical,\u00a0making the package very easy to install.<\/p>\n Aluminum cylinder block and head\u00a0gives the engine an extremely low weight\u00a0for its power output. The D3 is equipped with an engine\u00a0cover that in addition to protecting the engine\u00a0also gives it a modern and exclusive\u00a0appearance.<\/p>\n Comfort<\/strong><\/p>\n The D3 is equipped with the same type of\u00a0successful engine mounts that were introduced\u00a0for the D4\/D6 engines. The multiple\u00a0injection system in combination with\u00a0the new type of engine mounts makes the\u00a0engine amazingly quiet and comfortable\u00a0at low speeds.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n EVC-EC \u2013 Plug and go<\/strong><\/p>\n EVC, Electronic Vessel Control, is the\u00a0proven propulsion and boat management\u00a0system that is used for the D3\u2013D16\u00a0range of diesel engines. It offers a higher\u00a0level of integration in your boat: electronic\u00a0shift and throttle for smooth and safe control,\u00a0and a complete range of easy to read data link\u00a0gauges and display options including the new\u00a07″ color display.\u00a0EVC makes boating easier and safer, offering\u00a0twin engine synchronization and new software\u00a0functions. It gives a base for additional\u00a0features such as Trip Computer, which is a\u00a0good tool for optimizing cruising speed and\u00a0trim settings for best fuel efficiency.<\/p>\n The EVC-EC is scalable from one driving\u00a0station up to four, with easy plug-in installation.\u00a0EVC works closely together with the\u00a0engine management system offering you constant\u00a0power output regardless of temperature\u00a0and quality of the fuel.\u00a0A propulsion package fully matched,\u00a0tested and supported by one\u00a0company\u00a0Volvo Penta\u2019s hydraulically shifted reverse gear\u00a0has been specially developed with a view to\u00a0increasing the standard of comfort on board.<\/p>\n The combination of 8\u00b0 down angle, large drop\u00a0center and small dimensions provides for optimized\u00a0installations.
