Exceptional diesel\u00a0performance for its size<\/strong><\/p>\n Volvo Penta\u2019s 4-cylinder D4-300 is\u00a0developed from the latest design\u00a0in modern diesel technology. The\u00a0engine has common rail fuel injection\u00a0system, double overhead camshafts,\u00a04 valves per cylinder, turbocharger\u00a0and aftercooler. Together\u00a0with a large swept volume and the\u00a0EVC system (Electronic Vessel\u00a0Control), this results in world-class\u00a0diesel performance, combined with\u00a0low emissions. The engine is extremely\u00a0compact for its high output.<\/p>\n World-class performance<\/strong><\/p>\n The common rail fuel injection system, controlled\u00a0by EVC, in combination with a large\u00a0swept volume, ensures outstanding torque\u00a0during acceleration, with virtually no sign of\u00a0smoke. This matched with the engine\u2019s high\u00a0load carrying capability creates a sporty feeling\u00a0and power, when needed.<\/p>\n Compact and robust<\/strong><\/p>\n The engine is extremely compact for its large\u00a0swept volume and high output. With the rear end\u00a0transmission, driving the high-pressure\u00a0injection pump and the camshafts, a high degree\u00a0of integrated systems, a high-efficiency\u00a0after cooler, a marinization performed with very\u00a0few hoses, and a fully symmetric engine, the\u00a0package simply gets that compact.<\/p>\n The rigid cast-iron cylinder block and head,\u00a0combined ladder frame and balance shafts,\u00a0and exactly controlled (up to three steps) fuel\u00a0injection gives excellent onboard comfort with\u00a0low noise and vibration levels.<\/p>\n EVC\/EC \u2013 Plug and go<\/strong><\/p>\n EVC Electronic Vessel Control is the latest development\u00a0in engine control and instrumentation\u00a0for Volvo Penta marine engines. It offers a higher\u00a0level of integration in your boat: electronic shift\u00a0and throttle for smooth and safe control, a complete\u00a0range of easy to read data link gauges, an\u00a0EVC System Display (option) and much more,\u00a0everything in just one CAN cable.\u00a0EVC makes boating easier and safer with\u00a0twin engine synchronization and new software\u00a0functions such as Volvo Penta Low Speed (option),\u00a0which signifi cantly reduces boat speed at\u00a0idle to simplify maneuvering in tight quarters.<\/p>\n EVC is scalable from one station up to four,\u00a0from a classic dashboard up to an advanced\u00a0driver information system. EVC works closely\u00a0together with the engine management system\u00a0offering you constant power output regardless of temperature (5\u201355\u00b0C \/ 41\u2013131\u00b0F) and quality\u00a0of the fuel. The system is built on the latest\u00a0automotive technology with waterproof connectors,\u00a0so it\u2019s just plug and go.<\/p>\n A propulsion package fully\u00a0matched, tested and supported by\u00a0one company<\/strong><\/p>\n Volvo Penta\u2019s hydraulically shifted re verse gear\u00a0has been specially de vel oped with a view to increasing\u00a0the stand ard of com fort on board.\u00a0Matched with the characteristics of the\u00a0D4 engine, the hy drau lic shifting mechanism\u00a0and a gear tech nol o gy that uses bevel gears\u00a0through out the gear train, we have developed a\u00a0complete package for high torque, operational\u00a0reliability and reduction of engine noise\u00a0and vibrations.\u00a0The combination of 8\u00b0 down angle, large drop\u00a0center and small dimensions provides for optimized\u00a0installations. V-drives are also available.\u00a0In order to get full benefi t of the EVC system\u00a0the reverse gear is equipped with electric\u00a0shifting valve.<\/p>\n Meeting new emission standards<\/strong><\/p>\n The common rail injection system in combination\u00a0with electronics and an advanced combustion\u00a0system are setting new standards in\u00a0minimizing noxious emissions and particulates.\u00a0The engine complies with IMO NOx limits\u00a0and the comprehensive emission requirements\u00a0EU RCD and US EPA Tier 2.<\/p>\n\n\n
